May 9, 2020: Royal Wade Kimes Royal Wade Kimes became known by fans and the music industry as "The Gentleman Outlaw" after gracing the cover of True West Magazine, which told of Kimes taking on the Nashville music industry and winning.
Royal Wade Kimes was the last generation to ride the Boston Mountains on the Arkansas and Oklahoma border when it was open range. The fact is, he was the last cowboy period. Once the range closed, he left for Nashville where another legend recognized his talent, Mr. Eddy Arnold. He took him under his wing and Kimes wrote a 17 million seller "We Bury The Hatchet" for Garth Brooks, followed by a gold record for Diamond Rio, and a no.1 Gene Watson song. Once established as a Prolific story style song writer, Eddy readied him for recording. Kimes signed with Warner Brothers and began having his own hits as an artist. He has won 2 Will Roger's awards as well as Traditional Album of the Year for "Shadows of Time."
